Alchemy for Managers Weekly Tip – guest post from Paul Matthews

I’ll bet that you like a good story. I know that I do. If it’s a good one, I would also bet that you remember it and tell it to others. Stories get remembered well beyond anything else that might have been said, so begin using them constructively to create the business results and influence you want.

How To Use Stories Really Effectively In A Business Context

The Clerk of the Works at the construction site of a great new religious building asked the four stonemasons what they considered their job
function to be:

  • The first said “I’m cutting stone.”
  • The second said “I’m carving a pillar.”
  • The third said “I’m building a great and noble monument.”
  • The fourth said “I’m serving God and Humankind.”

He invited the fourth to join him on the management team.
