The Springboard to a More Committed Workforce

There are many ways to approach the issue of engaging staff – but some will get you out of the starting block faster than others.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) recommends the first step is to measure your employee attitudes. This will give a benchmark for future progress measurements and provide a rapid line of sight to the key areas for improvement.

Combined with other organisational data such as staff turnover and absence rates, employee surveys give a clear view of the whole picture and allow a definitive action plan to be developed which gives a clear route to success.  Bu simply conducting a survey isn’t enough.

The key to success in implementing any change requires the commitment and ‘buy in’ from the management team, who should be seen as champions of the change process. This should start with discussions around the benefits and needs for employee engagement in your organisation. The data collected from employees provides critical information about what should be changed or reinforced.

Once all this valuable information has been gathered and analysed, and actions have been decided on, it needs to be shared with staff. As always – communication is the key.
